2006 Acura RSX Type S

What is a Brief History of the Acura RSX? In 1984, American Honda introduced the Honda CRX hatchback. In 1986, American Honda introduced the Acura Integra hatchback.  Today, the Honda CRX and the Acura Integra are considered icons of American Honda Motor Company. Many enthusiasts of Honda cars have owned either a Honda CRX or an Acura Integra and most of them, when referring to those cars continue to reminisce, saying, "it was fun to drive and one of the best cars I ever owned". All good things must come to an end... The Honda CRX was discontinued in 1991 and the Acura Integra was discontinued in 2001.  In the 2002 model year;  American Honda introduced the replacement for the Acura Integra hatchback, which was the Acura RSX. All Acura RSX units, for U.S. drivers were produced and assembled in Japan. The RSX production for North America was from 2002 thru 2006. The 2002 thru 2004 year model Acura RSX units can differ greatly from the 2005 thru 2006 model years;  in key power train components, factory alloy wheel designs and factory specified tire sizes. One of the most obvious differences between the Honda CRX, the Acura Integra and the Acura RSX is the transition from a timing belt driven engine in all Honda CRX and Acura Integra units, to a timing chain driven engine in all Acura RSX units. The Acura RSX was basically produced in 3 trim levels - the Acura RSX base with cloth interior (available in an automatic or manual 5 speed transmission), the Acura RSX base with leather interior (available in an automatic or manual 5 speed transmission) and the Acura RSX Type S. All Acura RSX Type S units had leather interior and a 6 speed manual transmission.

What's the Vehicle History of this Acura RSX? This Acura RSX was originally titled in April of 2006 and registered in Gainesville, Florida. With 41,000 miles on the odometer; in August of 2009,  the 2nd owner aquired this vehicle and it was then titled and registered in Bristol, Virginia. With 82,000 miles on the odometer; the 3rd owner acquired this vehicle in December of 2013. It was then titled and registered in Franklin, Tennessee. This 2006 Acura RSX Type S has been under 3 ownerships and is a non-smoker vehicle.

Any Accidents? Yes. With reference to the Experian AutoCheck History Report; this 2005 Acura RSX was involved in a minor incident in May of 2015. According to the history report; the RSX was rear-ended.

How did Accurate acquire this Acura RSX?  Initially, we towed this Acura RSX to our facility because the engine had a severe 'knock'. When inspected by our technicians; we determined one of the lower rod caps had separated from one of the connecting rods at the crankshaft. This resulted in holes in the front and rear of the original engine block. The replacement engine for this 2006 Acura RSX Type S must come from either a 2005 or a 2006 Acura RSX Type S. This made that repair very expensive, with no way to determine how quickly a used engine could be found and installed. For these reasons; the previous owner decided to use the RSX as a trade-in with us for an Acura TSX that we had in our used car inventory at that time.

Has this Acura RSX been inspected and serviced? Yes. All Honda and Acura vehicles sold by Accurate Auto Sales are fully serviced and completely prepared for the next owner of the vehicle. The vehicle inspection and service items are not the same on every Honda and Acura vehicle. We determine the items needed on different Honda and Acura models, based on our experience in our own shop, Accurate Automotive. Below is a list and explanation on what service items were performed in preparing this Acura RSX for marketing - Accurate Automotive Work Order 25238, dated 06-21-2018

We installed the correct replacement engine. We obtained a very clean, used K20Z1 engine. The engine had basically the same mileage as our 2006 Acura RSX. Prior to installation, our technicians fully inspected this engine and replaced the seals that tend to leak on these units after about 10 years. These seals included all timing chain cover related seals, the front and rear crankshaft seals, VTEC Assembly, and VTC Filter. New spark plugs and a new serpentine drive belt were also installed during the engine replacement procedure.

A new clutch, pressure plate and release bearing were installed. Prior to engine installation; it was a perfect time to install a fresh clutch assembly.

The power steering pump was re-sealed. We have found that after about 10 years; the rubber power steering pump seals tend to get hard and leak fluid in hotter temperatures. During the winter; those same leaking seals can allow air to enter the power steering system and make the power steering pump cavitate - resulting in power steering pump 'whine' while driving. The power steering pump seals, front shaft bearing, and the suction hose that runs between the power steering reservior and power steering pump were replaced.

A new set of tires and 4 wheel alignment. This 2006 Acura RSX has a brand new set of Cooper tires in the correct size and speed rating. The vehicle has also been aligned and it is 100% ready to go.

Bottom-Line: The Honda CRX and Acura Integra are fond memories but long gone...  American Honda did produce the CRZ but all CRZ units were produced as gasoline hybrids - which likely had a negative effect on CRZ new car sales because not everyone wants a gasoline hybrid... With an 11:0 to 1 compression ratio and 6 speed transmission; this Acura RSX is a 'spitfire'.

Why Buy from Accurate?

A brief history: In 1997, Accurate Automotive opened as a shop, specializing exclusively in the repair and maintenance of Honda and Acura automobiles. The reason for specializing is because all of the members of the technical staff are former Honda and Acura franchised dealership technicians. In 2004, after moving into their new facility, they expanded their business to include the sales department that specializes in Honda and Acura automobiles.

Now for the reasons:

1. All of their inventory is selected by one of their technicians

* Most off of lease programs with American Honda Financial Co.

2. Most of the inventory is from southern states (FL, GA, TN, NC, SC)

* Avoiding undercarriage corrosion resulting from exposure to road salt and severe winter weather driving.

3. Prior to marketing, inventory units are fully serviced with all components / systems working properly.

4. Finally, all units are meticulously detailed inside and out prior to marketing
