2011 Honda Element EX 4WD

What is a Brief History of the Honda Element? The Honda Element was first introduced in the 2003 model year and was produced through Honda's 2011 production line. The square body style remained basically the same but after the 2005 production model; upgraded improvements to the exterior and interior seemed to be a constant and year-after-year consistent selling point.  On Honda Element trim levels - except the LX model; the main exterior improvement was the unpainted urethane claddings, which were painted the same color as the vehicle starting with the 2006 Honda Element EX-P trim level. Also, in the later production lines; the interior material that the seats were made of was a higher grade with a better look and some of the last Honda Element EX models were also equipped with factory navigation.  The Honda Element was equipped with either a manual or automatic transmission and in 5 basic trim levels; LX 2WD, LX 4WD EX 2WD, EX 4WD and SC. NOTE:  the SC trim level was introduced in the 2007 production line and was only equipped as 2WD model and in 2006 there was an 2WD or 4WD EX-P model - EX - 'P' for 'painted claddings'. From 2003 thru 2011; all Honda Elements had the same 'K' block, 2.4 Liter, i-VTEC, timing chain driven engine. All had the same door configurations. The Honda Element is a very well engineered SUV. It has a lot of hauling space with the rear seats folded up. The power to weight ratio, the passenger capacity limited to 4 - counting the driver,  and Honda's reputation for designing car unibodys with energy absorbing collision crumple zones;  attributes to lower insurance costs for young drivers. When new, the Honda Element was  hard to sell because few new car buyers wanted to pay $20,000 to $30,000 for one. However, as a used car;  these SUVs are in demand and hard to find in good shape.

What's the Vehicle History of this Honda Element? This Honda SUV is a one owner, non-smoker unit. It was originally placed into service in September of 2011 and it has always been registered in Chewsville, Maryland.

Any Accidents? Yes. According to information obtained from Experian's AutoCheck Report; this unit was involved in one incident on January 13, 2017, in Franklin County, PA. We were unable to obtain a copy of the police report on this accident; but it is believed to have been a winter-weather / road condition related incident based on the date and where it occured. When we initially drove this Honda Element; our driver noted an unusual 'buzz' vibration under acceleration that Elements do not normally have. During our used car inspection; a simple visual inspection from underneath resulted in the discovery that the original transmission bell housing was cracked where the front engine mount bolts to it - a common result  that can easily occur in a front impact due to the design spacing of the front cross-member of the undercarriage in relation to the position of the transmission. Our service department installed a new engine mount and replaced the automatic transmission with a transmission unit that has only 60,000 miles on it. We also installed a new rear crankshaft seal while the transmission was removed and access was gained to this seal. Question: We obtained this Honda Element from another dealer that was offering this unit for retail sale. Do you think that an average consumer would have noticed this unusual issue during a short test drive before purchasing this vehicle?

Has this Honda Element been inspected and serviced? Yes. All Honda and Acura vehicles sold by Accurate Auto Sales are fully serviced and completely prepared with reliablility as our focus point, for the benefit of the next car owner. The used car inspection and service items are not the same on every Honda and Acura vehicle. We determine the items needed on different Honda and Acura models, based on our experience in our own shop, Accurate Automotive. Below is a list and explanation on what service items were performed in preparing this Honda Element for marketing - Accurate Automotive Work Order 25532, dated 09-28-2018.

We installed a new Denso A/C compressor. The original A/C compressor clutch assembly was worn-out and needed to be replaced. A brand new Denso A/C compressor was installed. Then, with a high quality - industry standard - Robinair A/C machine;  the A/C system was accurately charged to full refrigerant capacity, using the correct R134A refrigerant.

We re-sealed the timing chain cover, installed a new serpentine drive belt and installed a new set of spark plugs. While the 2.4 liter i-VTEC Honda engine - that is used in the Acura TSX, Acura RSX, Honda Accord, Honda CRV, and Honda Element -  does have a timing chain, instead of a timing belt; the timing chain cover will eventually start leaking engine oil. The seals used in this area are both rubber o-ring type and a liquid, 'caulk-like' sealer called, "Honda-Bond". All seals including the valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, VTC filter seal, VTEC seal, timing chain gasket, and front crankshaft seal were replaced with the genuine Honda replacements. In addition, a new brand new OEM Bando Rib-Ace  serpentine drive belt  and a new set of 4 NGK iridium tipped spark plugs were also installed.

A new genuine Honda oil pan was installed. Most oil pans on Honda and Acura engines are cast aluminum. The cast aluminum pans can easily have stripped-out / worn threads at the drain plug, in higher mileage units due to the tendency of over-tightening of the drain plugs,  during routine oil changes. These worn threads tend to cause oil leaks at the drain plug and a worse scenario; some of the worn threads can break off in the crankcase oil and get lodged in the oil pressure regulator valve. The oil pan is a brand new, genuine Honda part.

New genuine Honda compliance bushings and new lower ball joints were installed in the front. Complaince bushings are very large doughnut size rubber components that commonly wear out  after 7 or 8 years on the Honda CRV, Honda Element, Honda Accord, Acura TL and Acura TSX units. When this wear occurs; the bushings will allow excessive movement in the front lower control arms. These bushings and lower ball joints were replaced to provide tighter steering, giving the driver added security and control.

We installed a new set of front brake rotors. Nearly every car we sell gets the front rotors either machined or replaced. This is because of brake vibration / pulsation that is a result of front rotor warpage. Front rotors will warp while driving due to heat build up in stop-and-go traffic and then having road-wash water splashing on them - especially on the passenger front - when driving in the rain. All cars are subject to rotor warpage. For this reason, we simply machine or replace the front brake rotors, depending on how thick the rotor / brake discs are on nearly every vehicle, prior to offering the unit for sale. Obviously, the thicker the brake rotor / disc, the more durable the rotor is against warpage. The front brake rotors on this Honda Element are brand new, thick and true. This results in smooth braking with no pulsation or vibration.

A fresh, new engine air filter and cabin air filter were installed. The existing filters were not filthy / dirty. This vehicle has been very well maintained and the air filters were simply showing signs of age. The filters were replaced as a maintenance starting point - preparing this vehicle for the next owner.

We installed a brand new battery. "Do you have any battery cables?" Many drivers have had to ask that question and usually in the worst weather conditions or very late at night. No need to worry about this Honda Element. A brand new, fresh battery was properly installed and secured, using the correct battery size.

We installed new adjustable rear camber arms on the left and right side and performed a 4 wheel alignment. From the factory, most Honda and Acura vehicles do not have an adjustment for rear camber. However as the suspension settles - weakens a little; the vehicle ride height lowers slightly. This causes the rear camber to go negative which can make the rear tires wear faster on the inside of the tread - especially if the vehicle is loaded. We have seen this issue on Honda and Acura vehicles as new as 2016 models. While most repair shops and dealers will ignore an out-of-spec negative camber issue because it is not adjustable from the factory; we will install very high quality replacement suspension parts as needed to correct the out-of-spec alignment situation. The alignment on this Honda Element is now straight and true on all 4 wheels.

All fluids have been changed. The engine oil and filter have been changed. The automatic transmission fluid has fresh genuine Honda transmission fluid in it. The rear differential fluid has fresh, genuine Honda dual pump fluid. The cooling system has fresh genuine Honda engine antifreeze in it. The brake master cylinder has fresh D.O.T. Type 4 brake fluid in it.

New genuine Honda windshield wiper inserts were installed. In our 22 years of business; Accurate Automotive has always recommended genuine Honda windshield wiper blades and inserts. There simply isn't a better windshield wiper in the market. However, the cheaper quality aftermarket / non-Honda wiper blades are sometimes more expensive and can scratch windshields when they come apart! This Honda Element had genuine Honda windshield wiper blades, so all we replaced / installed were new genuine Honda wiper inserts.

Why Buy from Accurate?

A brief history: In 1997, Accurate Automotive opened as a shop, specializing exclusively in the repair and maintenance of Honda and Acura automobiles. The reason for specializing is because all of the members of the technical staff are former Honda and Acura franchised dealership technicians. In 2004, after moving into their new facility, they expanded their business to include the sales department that specializes in Honda and Acura automobiles.

Now for the reasons:

1. All of their inventory is selected by one of their technicians

* Most off of lease programs with American Honda Financial Co.

2. Most of the inventory is from southern states (FL, GA, TN, NC, SC)

* Avoiding undercarriage corrosion resulting from exposure to road salt and severe winter weather driving.

3. Prior to marketing, inventory units are fully serviced with all components / systems working properly.

4. Finally, all units are meticulously detailed inside and out prior to marketing
